Today, the Republican State Leadership Committee announced the “18 in ’18” Races to Watch list in conjunction with their Future Majority Project and Right Women, Right Now initiatives. Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti has been named as one of the candidates to watch as she continues to travel the state campaigning for lower taxes, more jobs, and an end to corruption.
In response, Lt. Governor Sanguinetti released the following statement:
“It is an honor to be named to a list with so many incredible leaders fighting for our shared values of lower taxes, more jobs, government accountability. Here in Illinois, it is crucial that Bruce Rauner and I have the opportunity to continue the work that we’ve started so we can ensure a brighter future for generations to come. These candidates are fighting to provide those same opportunities to their children and grandchildren, and it is humbling to share this recognition with them.”
RSLC President Matt Walter released the following statement in announcement of the list:
“Since 2011, the FMP and RWRN initiatives have proved tremendously successful in building up the next generation of Republican state leaders. Together, these programs have helped to elect over 100 new candidates from diverse backgrounds and over 500 new women to state level offices. The first round of candidates identified on our “18 in ’18: Races to Watch” list embody the future leaders we will wholeheartedly support through the FMP and RWRN initiatives. We have had enormous success with candidates we have already elected to office this year and we look forward to the success of the remainder of these candidates come November.”
